American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly lyrics that tackled issues of racial identity and sexuality with the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to expanding her reach into Hollywood. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean parents who immigrated to Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came through the trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop lessons began when she grew up. While in college, she took classes in journalism and women's studies. Then, she even had some time learning Mandarin at the University of Beijing. Then, after graduation, that she shifted her focus on music. The track she released in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet eventually landing on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album included other viral hits like the body-positive Queef as well as the wink-inducing hometown tour NYC Bitche$. This song was also featured in Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in the year 2015. With musician and author in her portfolio, she decided to decided to focus on becoming acting in a third project. Apart from early series such as Girl Code and Tawk she has also appeared in films like Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she got a number of important roles such as Dude Ocean's eight or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
