American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly lyrics that tackled issues of racial identity and sexuality with the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to expanding her reach into Hollywood. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean parents who immigrated to Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came through the trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop lessons began when she grew up. While in college, she took classes in journalism and women's studies.
